A few facts you may not have known about conservatories
Conservatories can be manufactured in a number of styles to compliment most homes, ranging from Edwardian, Victorian, Gable fronts and many other shapes to enhance and fit any home. They can even be manufactured to fit on an existing base or brickwork if necessary.
Using a company that manufactures the parts with precise bespoke measurements will make it easier to install your conservatory if you are to assemble it yourself or have a builder construct it for you.
Bespoke Conservatories can be manufactured to fit the exact dimensions of your home. They can be manufactured to fit areas such as a corner or to fit a bungalow. In some cases there will also be a hipped-back roof supplied and a box gutter. Another way to plan a conservatory project is even prior to owning a home. A pre-order can be placed so that when the home is purchased the conservatory can be manufactured to fit the home.
The concern about planning permission in most cases is not a concern if the conservatory does not measure over 50 or 70 cubic meters. This does depend on where the home is located and it is advised if there are any questions about this to contact the local planning department. One of the reasons for this is the Exemption Criteria in the Building Regulations dated 1991, which states the conservatory roof must be either transparent or translucent.
The walls must be half formed from windows and any radiators that are placed in the conservatory must have its own separate control for temperature and an on and off switch. The room also must not contain any type of drainage, such as a sink installed in the room. More information on planning permission and building regulations on conservatories can be seen here.
Prior to purchasing a conservatory many people have questions about ordering, construction and other questions such as whether they will need planning permission. Always make sure you ask your conservatory supplier or local council any questions you may have before embarking on such a project.
